The emergency department is prepared to deliver care to patients with any type of emotional or physical problem at any level of severity, from routine to life threatening. The department is staffed 24 hours per day by emergency physicians and ACLS certified nurses.

Patients requiring specialized care or procedures not available at Sauk Prairie Memorial Hospital are transferred to the appropriate tertiary care center, generally in Madison. Examples include patients with spinal cord injuries and patients requiring cardiac angiography. In the case of psychiatric emergencies, inpatient or outpatient care is arranged through Emergency Services and transport coordinated, as appropriate.

Our Emergency Department is a Level III Trauma center.

Urgent Care: Monday-Friday 5-10:30 pm; Weekends and Holidays 11 am-10:30 pm
