Three years ago, after seven miscarriages-each
six months apart-Roxi was ready to have another baby. Understandably
devastated, she worked hard to keep the hope going; Roxi and
her husband, Monte, weren't about to give up. They tried specialists
and hospitals in Madison but to no avail. Roxi was tired of
hearing all the negatives: chances aren't great, and don't
count on any miracles.
But hope was right around the corner. After
miscarriage number seven, she went to Sauk Prairie Memorial
for the D&C and met Dr. Todd Schad, the attending physician
at the time. Roxi found him to be very personable and upbeat.
In addition, he was recommended by Maribeth
Baker, M.D., Roxi's family physician. One of her special interests
is obstetrics. Roxi says, "She's really knowledgeable.
Because of all the difficulties I was having, she suggested
Schad, so I wanted to give him a try.
"When I met with him to discuss having
another baby, Dr. Schad was so positive-there was so much
hope. He believed I could have another child and was determined
to do anything he could to help us."
Understandably, this mom was nervous for
quite a while when she became pregnant again. But Dr. Schad
knew what to do. He prescribed a medication none of Roxi's
other doctors had, including all the specialists from Madison.
It worked.
Little Brianna came along seven years after
her handsome older brother, Cameron. Today, these two delightful
children are happy and healthy. Roxi says, "I had such
a good experience when Cameron was born at Sauk Prairie, and
I knew that the hospital had a good national reputation. I
was glad to go back for Brianna, especially after Dr. Schad
arrived. He was obviously very well-versed in the latest techniques-I
trusted him.
