Teachers from Waunakee, Amy and JP did
their homework before choosing an obstetrician nearly four
years ago when Addie was born. After their visit with Dr.
Todd Schad, it was an easy decision. Amy was impressed. "I
couldn't believe the amount of time he gave, just getting
to know us. He was really personable. We had a lot of questions,
and he answered every single one of them," she says. So when
they became pregnant a few years later with Jack, a delightful
baby boy, they knew where to go.
But life wasn't always that easy. Before
Jack came along, Amy had a miscarriage. She says, "I was at
work and needed to get to the hospital. I got in right away;
Dr. Schad stayed with me while JP was on his way. Everyone
at Sauk Prairie was very sensitive and caring, and you could
tell it was heartfelt."
After the miscarriage, Amy really understood
the importance of having a doctor and hospital you could trust.
"When I became pregnant with Jack, I knew that Dr. Schad
would be there when I delivered. It was very reassuring."
The obstetrician delivering their baby would be the same throughout
their pregnancy-someone thoroughly familiar with their history,
concerns, and decisions. This isn't always the case in other
hospitals.
JP had other concerns too. "My husband is
an avid reader and keeps up to date on new technology and
medical trends. He asked a lot of questions. Dr. Schad was
very knowledgeable," Amy says.
This is echoed in Amy's reasons for choosing
Sauk Prairie Memorial over Madison's hospitals. "At Sauk Prairie
you get the latest in technology and medical care too, but
you're also treated like family. Everyone remembers you; they're
truly interested," she explains. You're not just another patient.
