Wellspring Plus offers yoga for all

SPMHC’s Wellspring Plus now offers many yoga class options for flexibility, stress management and relaxation. Go to www.spmh.org/classes for full details and listings. Register now for fall classes which run from September 7 – October 28!

Chair Yoga (Tuesday & Thursday, 10:45 – 11:30 am) is gentle yoga performed sitting in a chair or standing using a chair for support. No getting up and down from the floor. Great for aging adults or those with physical limitations.

Beginner’s Yoga (Tuesday & Thursday, noon - 12:45 pm) is for those who have thought of learning yoga or haven’t done it in years. Relax and stretch; no complicated poses.

Mother/Baby Yoga (Monday, 11:15 am – noon) is open to parents and infants from seven weeks old to crawling age. Designed to help new moms recover from pregnancy and the birthing process. Paired movements, in modified yoga poses, are a great way to connect. Good for baby also. Crying & feeding allowed.

Yoga in the Iyengar Tradition (Monday, 8-9 am; Monday, 7-8 pm; or Wednesday, 8-9 am) is still offered for those preferring its precise body alignment and the holding of physical poses for extended periods.

Water Yoga (Monday, 10 – 10:45 am; Tuesday & Thursday, 9:30 – 10:15 am) is back by popular demand. Warm water provides comfort, support and resistance to movement. Improve flexibility, strength, balance and breathing while calming and centering the mind.

Yoga’s poses and controlled breathing are a popular means of stress management and relaxation. Yoga draws your focus away from your busy, chaotic mind and toward calm as you work toward balance and concentration.
