Sauk Prairie Memorial Hospital & Clinics Named 2010 Most Wired

Sauk Prairie Memorial Hospital & Clinics (SPMHC) has been recognized both as one of the nation’s MOST WIRED and MOST WIRELESS hospitals, according to the results of the 2010 Most Wired Survey released in the July issue of Hospitals & Health Networks (H&HN). The MOST WIRELESS distinction was given to only 25 hospitals in the country.

“It is gratifying to be recognized as a national leader,” said Larry Schroeder, CEO of SPMHC.  “Our team knows that the future of medicine is tied to the use of electronic health records and we have made this a major strategic initiative.  In our efforts to deliver technologically advanced care, we recently made a significant investment in the information system that will be used in our future hospital.”

“We continue to implement technologies in ways that improve upon the safety and quality of patient care delivered at SPMHC,” said Marybeth Bay, Information Technology Director at SPMHC.  “In addition to our electronic health record system and digital medical imaging system, we leverage wireless technology to ensure our systems are available to staff anytime and anywhere.”

H&HN conducted the 2010 survey in cooperation with McKesson Corporation and The College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME).  The July H&HN cover story detailing results is available at www.hhnmag.com. H&HN, the journal of the American Hospital Association, conducts the voluntary Most Wired Survey annually which uses the results to name Most Wired hospitals and health systems. It is based on organizations’ level of achievement in four focus areas: Business and Administrative Management, Clinical Quality and Safety, Care Continuum and Infrastructure.
